My top credit card recommendations
Over the years, I have opened up and tested out over 34 credit cards to find the best ones out there.
These are my current favorites and what Linda and I are currently using.
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Every time I find myself at dinner with 6 other financial experts, normally 4 of them pull out this card. It is my favorite card of all time.
All that to say, if you only want one card that pays fantastic travel rewards (or cashback if you prefer), this is the one I would recommend.

Chase Ink Business Preferred®
This card is insane in that it pays 3x points on the first $150,000 spent on purchases on travel, shipping purchases, Internet, cable and phone services, advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines.
So if you have a business where you buy online ads, definitely get this one. If not, it is still a really good business card, but the Chase Business Unlimited might probably be a better bet.

Other Recommendations
Since our primary focus has been earning rewards to maximize our free travel, the cards above have been the best for us. But if you have different goals, these cards might be more beneficial for you.
Want cash back on your purchases?
I have used and really like Chase Freedom Unlimited® as a cashback card as well. It pays 1.5% on everything (unlimited cash back for the first year) with a $0 annual fee.
It doesn’t come with quite as many benefits as the Sapphire, but it is a good runner up – especially for those who want cash back with no annual fee.
Need a card with a 0% interest rate?
Many cards will offer a 15 month (or more) introductory rate of 0% on balance transfers. If you are paying 25% on your current card and can transfer that balance to a card with a 0% interest rate for 15 months you can save quite a bit.
Here is a list of the current best offers for 0% cards to do this with.
